What we Plan to Do....

The project is being run in 2 phases:

Phase 1:

Fund raising specifically for the school i.e. for the equipment and supplies to help meet their current needs.

The intention is that some resources / equipment is purchased and taken to the school, and a further amount is raised as a monetary donation and sent  to the school. We see this as a means for the school to buy locally what they need – hence helping the community.

Phase 2:

This is all about the opportunity of children being in the mission field i.e. a trip in 2017 to visit Matumaini school.

This trip will be primarily to start the building of relationships with the children – sharing conversation and friendship, interactive games and crafts etc. It has been suggested that if a visit was viable – we take an English lesson, paint some of the school and also help with some cleaning, really giving the youngsters a chance to make a difference.

The Tweenagers are already embarking on making 200 pencil cases by hand, so that every child in Matumaini can have their own.

The trip will act as a fact-finding / trail blazing visit that will inform where future fund raising for the school should be targeted. This is not a one-off project – we see this as a long term partnership with fund raising being part of the children’s programmes at Chatham, albeit on a smaller scale.
